Two identical jobs rarely are
The same fan in two houses can be an hour apart. One ceiling has a hatch and a timber beside the fixing point. The other does not.

The honest answer, without a price list.
You want a number you can rely on. We would rather work out the real one for your job than publish a figure that changes the moment someone looks at your ceiling. Here is exactly how we get you that number, and what is in it.

Not because we are cagey about it. Because a price written before anyone has seen your job is a guess, and a guess is how people end up with a bill they did not expect.

A cheap figure on a website that doubles on the day is the complaint we hear about other electricians. We would rather tell you the real one once.

Ring us, or send photos. Most of the time we can price it from that, at no cost and with no obligation.
Tell us what is going on. We ring you back, usually the same day.
Call, text or request a callback. Photos of the switchboard, the fitting or the spot you want a power point help more than anything else you can send.
Over the phone, from what you have told us and what you have sent. No obligation and no cost. If we can price it from that, that is your price.
Some jobs cannot be priced down a phone line. We tell you what attending costs before you book, so you decide with the number in front of you.
A plain English scope of works: what we will do, where, and what it costs. The price you accept is the price you pay.
If we find something the quote did not cover, work stops and you get it in writing before we go on. Never afterwards.
These are not extras and they are not line items you can decline. They are what a licensed job costs to do properly.

Not a labourer with a licensed name on the paperwork. Our licence numbers are on every quote and on the contact page.

We test what we worked on and you get a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW). That is the document that says the work is legal and safe, and you will want it when you sell or insure.

If our work fails because of how we did it, we come back and fix it. That is not a promotion, it is the standing position.

Drop sheets down, dust vacuumed up, the old fitting taken away. You should not be able to tell we were there except for the thing that now works.
A flat tiled roof with no manhole, a crawl space you cannot stand in, or a second storey with nothing above the ceiling. Access is the single biggest difference between two jobs that sound the same on the phone.

Old rubber or cotton wiring, no spare circuit at the board, or a cable that has to be run the long way round. We tell you what we have found before it becomes money.
Fault finding >
If the board cannot safely carry what you are adding, that is a conversation before we start, not a surprise at the end. Where the law requires a safety switch for the work, we say so, we price it, and we tell you plainly if the rest of the board is still old.
Switchboard upgrades >
A ceiling fan needs something solid to fix to, and plenty of ceilings have nothing there. We price the supports in the quote up front, so if they are needed you already know the cost rather than meeting it on the invoice.

Testing what we worked on is in the price. If a test turns up an existing fault that has nothing to do with our work, we show you, we price the repair separately, and you decide. We do not quietly absorb it and we do not quietly fix it.

Some jobs cannot be priced over the phone. A fault that comes and goes, a board nobody has opened in twenty years, a renovation with nothing drawn up yet. For those we come out, and there are three things worth knowing before you book.
You know the attendance charge before you book. We tell you on the phone. It is not worked out afterwards and it does not depend on how long we are there.
If you go ahead, there is no second call-out. You paid for us to come and look once. Coming back to do the work sits inside the price of the job, and that holds for as long as your quote is valid.
If you decide not to go ahead, that is fine. You pay the attendance we told you about and nothing else. You keep the written findings and the fixed price, and there is no obligation to use us.
After hours and weekends cost more than a weekday, because they cost us more. You will know which one you are booking before we get in the van.
Different customers buy differently, so the shape of the price is different too.

A fixed price in writing before we start, from a set schedule rather than a stopwatch. You are not paying for how long it takes us to find the right screwdriver.
Home electrical >
Invoiced the day the job is done, with the tenant contacted directly and the paperwork attached. No deposit to book, so a work order is never held up waiting on one.
Property maintenance >
Priced off the plan or a site walk, staged to your program, with variations quoted before they are built rather than argued about at the end.
For builders >The fastest way to a real price. A photo of the board or the spot beats a paragraph.
Read more >Tripping power, flickering lights, a dead power point. We find it and price the fix.
Read more >No power, a burning smell or sparking. Ring now, including after hours.
Read more >It depends on the job, which is why we would rather price yours than publish a list. Tell us what is going on and we will give you an estimate over the phone at no cost. Most of our work is a fixed price agreed in writing before we start, so the number you accept is the number you pay.
Yes, for coming out. The amount depends on whether you are a new or a regular customer, how far out you are, and whether it is after hours. We tell you exactly what it is when you book, so it is never a surprise on the invoice.
Over the phone, yes, and photos of the job help a lot. There is no cost and no obligation. What we do not do is drive out, spend an hour working out what is needed and charge nothing for it. A site visit to price the job formally carries an attendance charge, and we tell you what it is before we book it.
No. You paid for us to come and look once. Coming back to do the job is part of the price of the job, at every tier and after hours too. That holds for as long as your quote is valid.
Usually not. Most work is priced fixed from a set schedule, so you know the number before we start. Some work is genuinely open-ended, and that is charged for time and materials. We tell you which one applies before any work begins.
Only if the job changes, and only with your agreement in writing first. We do not do extra work and tell you about it afterwards.
On a fixed quote, yes, and it comes off your invoice. It is part-payment, not an extra. Property managers and real estate agents settle on invoice with no deposit.
Yes. Testing what we worked on is in the price, along with your Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW). If a test turns up an existing fault that is nothing to do with our work, we tell you what it is and price the repair separately rather than absorbing it quietly or doing it without asking.
